tahts a great idea mega, i always thought of a way to keeping track of my comics through my computer way back when, especailly when my collection started hitting the thousand range but i fell out of collecting comic books, now that i collect figures i definately would impliment a program now taht my collection is growing...
would you have a program to keep track of your comic books aswell?

I came across one last week that I am waiting to try out with the comics I have. My current collection isn't anywhere near as big as yours (I think I am in the few Hundred). I'll let you know how it does and I'll get it to you as well.
The company that had put this one together has one for comics, DVDs, and a few other things, but not action figures.

i started collecting from like the late 80's to the mid 90's and i used too spend like 50 or 60 bucks a week on books
I used to. I collected about the same time as you. Had 15,000 in the collection when I stopped in my second year of college.
They were well taken care of....then I graduated college and I was sent to France for a year on a contract, during that time my parents moved from OH to AL (and took my stiff with them).
They didn't tell me until after the fact that they culled my collection of action figures (threw out all Star Wars and GI Joe figures plus Mocromen, etc), and carried only the comics down to AL with them.
They got put out into the Garage on the floor and the first rain they found out that the Garage flooded. Well, needless to say, all that was left of my collection was 100 decent books, and 14,900 books now looking like wood pulp. [img]frown.gif[/img]
It was the one reason that I had misgivings bout getting back into them. I hated the having to start over again.
So far, I have gone back and got the main line of Spawns and have cuaght up with current releases on those, and have about 10 issues of offshoots and appearances to be done with the going back on Spawn. I now only collect Iron Fist, the Marvel Universes (a finite line), and the Hardcover Encyclopedias (again, finite), and a TPB here and there of Wolverine.
I am not going to get back into it all like I did. I am happy at the level I am now.

I've been working on a spreedsheet and tracking for my comics and the biggest problem has been trying to figure out how to set it up. Date, publisher, title, artist, writer, cover, I just don't know where to start.
someone had modified MS's My Things program awhile back to suit figure collecting. it worked ok, but the downfall, imo, was that it took 4 pages to get a tiny bit of info.
one of the transformers sites had this very idea nailed....wish i could remember which.
also, being able to attach a pic would be awesome.
OK, well, life just doesn't feel normal to me if I am not behind on atleast 10 different things, and since I am coming to the end of a few projects, I need something new to be behind on.
So here is what I want to start working on to get behind in.....
I need to have something to drive me to dig in and learn VB.NET. I am good enough with VB6 and all realted to waht I do, but I want to learn the .NET versions as that is the direction of most things.
So, I am going to start on an application I started in VB6 and didn't get to finish and will start over in VB.NET. So here is my question to you all:
If you had an application that kept track of your action figure collection, what would you want out of it?
Company, line, series, chase, MOC, figure name, ability to maybe attach a picture of the figure..........Those things come to mind immediately. What would you add?
Once I get to the end of the project, I'll be sending it out to anyonethat wants it, just don't expect it in the near immediate future [img]wink.gif[/img]
